A Community-First Approach

North Plains Living is independently owned and locally published. We partner with independent contractors and contributors, not a large corporate staff, which allows us to stay flexible, personal, and deeply connected to the community we serve.

All opportunities listed below are paid, independent contractor roles. These positions are project-based or commission-based and do not include employee benefits. Contractors are responsible for their own taxes and required documentation.

Current Opportunities

Advertising Sales Representative

Independent Contractor | Commission-Only

We’re looking for a motivated, community-minded individual to help local businesses connect with North Plains residents through print and digital advertising.

What you’ll do:

• Sell advertising space in the North Plains Living print magazine and website

• Build relationships with local business owners

• Share advertising options, deadlines, and opportunities

• Help support a magazine that is entirely funded by local advertising

Compensation:

• Commission-only role (no base pay)

• 15% commission on all ad sales

This role is a great fit if you:

• Enjoy talking with small business owners

• Are self-motivated and comfortable working independently

• Prefer a flexible schedule

• Want to support local businesses and community storytelling

Local knowledge of North Plains is a plus, but not required.

Writers & Contributors

Independent Contractor | Paid Per Article

We’re actively building a group of local writers to contribute monthly or recurring articles across a variety of sections, including (but not limited to):

• Community culture and people

• Local history

• Health, wellness, and lifestyle

• Home, real estate, and practical living

• Events, activities, and things to do in North Plains

What to expect:

• Paid writing opportunities (typically per article)

• Word counts and topics vary by section

• Creative freedom within the scope of each column

• Non-political, community-focused content

We’re seeking writers who are passionate about storytelling, connection, and highlighting what makes North Plains unique. Prior publishing experience is welcome but not required.
